Hello everyone,
I want to take a moment to clarify something that’s often misunderstood: years of service vs. true experience.
Years on a job don’t automatically mean someone has mastered it. Sometimes, people may have experience in a different field or only part of the role they are pursuing. True experience comes from fully learning every aspect of the position, understanding how it works, and applying that knowledge effectively.
I’ve spent years gaining hands-on experience at the Jail—learning every part of operations, improving programs, managing policies, and making sure daily management runs smoothly. On top of that, I run a small business bringing in over $250,000 annually, handling payroll of $110,000–$140,000 per year, and making decisions to keep operations efficient and financially sound.
Some of my opponents like to say they’ve “handled a budget,” but that’s vague. Real experience is about understanding every dollar, making payroll, covering expenses, and keeping operations running efficiently. That’s exactly what I do every day in both the Jail and my business.
I encourage everyone to take the time to look at our websites and Facebook pages to see who truly understands how the Jail operates. Check public records, review open requests, and see who has taken the time to learn the job. Experience isn’t measured in years alone—it’s measured in knowledge, skill, and results.
— Brad Rowland
